Some great songs to check out

    April 25th, 2008

Just thought I’d share some of the songs that have been getting repetitive ipod/cd time lately.

    • Unite by Worth Dying For. You can download the song for free here. You may recall that I downloaded the album last week. It’s a decent album. Nothing wrong with it, but only a few songs wowed me.
    • At the Moment by Stavesacre. An oldie but a goodie. It’s always been one of my favorite songs, but it really moved me yesterday on the way to work.
    • Love Revolution by Lenny Kravitz. Title track off Lenny’s latest album. Awesome song.
    • Bring it On by Lenny Kravitz. Ditto. (except for the title track bit…)
    • Divine Romance by Phil Wickham. Beautiful lyrics.
    • Signature of Divine (Yahweh) by Needtobreathe. Great worship song. I’ve been trying to figure out whether this would work at GracePoint.
    • What Do I Know of Holy by Addison Road. Very powerful lyrics.
    • We Shine by Fee. I like the Passion version better than Fee album version. It’s more guitar-driven. I’m sure this will make it to a GracePoint Sunday Morning Experience sometime soon. You can view a great video of Fee leading this song at Buckhead. Simply awesome.

    One Year Bible on YouVersion

    April 23rd, 2008

First they created YouVersion, an online bible and resource.

Then they created a One Year Bible to help you read though the bible in a year’s time.

Now, they’ve added an RSS feed for the One Year Bible so Bloglines can remind me every morning to read my bible.

    What a great idea!

    Spiderman…spiderman…does whatever a spider can

    April 23rd, 2008

I came across a superhero quiz courtesy of the Deadly Viper Blog.

I took the assessment to see which superhero I am most like. You can take the quiz here.

It turns out the Spiderman and I have a few things in common. Apparently I’m intelligent, witty, a bit geeky and have great power and responsibility.

I guess I can deal with that.

If you take the quiz, add a comment with your secret identity.

    Debut album from Aranda

    April 23rd, 2008

Aranda released their debut album yesterday, and I highly recommend it. Lots of guitar-driven rock, great hooks, great vocals. You name it - it’s got it. “Whyyawannabringmedown” is one of the best song titles that I’ve seen lately. “All I Ever Wanted” is probably my favorite song on the album. My only complaint is that there’s no mandolin to be found. :)
If you’re interested, there is a CD release party Friday night at The Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City. Andrea and I are headed to OKC for the weekend, and we’re thinking about going. For those of you up here in Wichita, they’ll be playing Loft 150 on May 9 and 10.

Most of you have probably never heard of Aranda. Brothers Dameon and Gabe Aranda, hail from Oklahoma City and have been a musical force in the area for quite a while.

Last summer, they were in the top 5 of Lollapalooza’s Last Band Standing. Aranda placed first in the online votes, but Shockstars ended up winning.

And on a personal note, these guys lived right behind me when I was little. It’s probably been 25 years since I last talked to them. I remember going over to their house when I was 5 or 6, and pretending to be the Beatles as we sang and played air guitar and drums along to a record.

Anyway… go download the album off itunes! You won’t regret it.

    Trunk Monkey

    April 21st, 2008

I love how things circulate on the Internet. Just about the time you forget about something, the email circulates again. I’m sure there are some interesting mathematical principals behind this.

Anyway, someone forwarded the infamous Trunk Monkey commercials to me a few days ago. Truly classic stuff!

    Thought I’d share.
