Sunday Setlist … March 29, 2009
Good morning, and welcome to (yesterday’s) Sunday Setlist! As always, this is just one of many in Fred McKinnon’s blog carnival. Be sure to check out the others.
It’s a good thing that I procrastinated, and didn’t write this yesterday… It gave time for Ed to post some great videos from yesterday’s service at GracePoint. This was my second week on the sound board with the new equipment. I made more mistakes on sound yesterday, than I had in the last year combined. Not sure what the deal was… Probably not enough coffee.
On to the setlist:
- Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar (walk-in)
- No One Like You by David Crowder Band
- We Shine by Fee
- Salvation is Here by Hillsong United
- Hosanna by Hillsong United
- Audience of One by Big Daddy Weave (prayer time)
- Higher by Creed (offering)
Hit Me With Your Best Shot was a new one (or, at least I think it was). The band was awesome. I wish I had a video so you could hear Christina’s vocals. Good stuff!
No One Like You is the first Crowder song we ever used several years ago. It’s fun to sing, to play, etc… If I remember correctly, we do this a 1/2 step higher than recorded (key of G) to avoid the detuned guitars.
We Shine is another one that we play 1/2 step higher than recorded for the same reason. We use the arrangement off the Passion: God of This City album. Less loops and more guitar than the Fee album version, which fits us better. One of these days, Ijust know the band is going to try and see if they can make Gil pass out at the end of the song. Might be fun to watch.
Salvation is Here is one of my favorite Hillsong tunes. We drop this into the key of B (instead of D) for female vocals, which is most of the time. Amy and Jeff were particularly awesome on this one. Be sure to check out Jeff on the bass solo in the video.
Hosanna was a great song to end the worship set with. Amy really got everyone singing along. Check out the video.
Audience of One was pretty stripped down for use during a time of prayer. Just Jeff on acoustic guitar and Gil on vocals. It worked out perfectly. They had a click track in their ear to make sure the tempo didn’t get out of control without a drummer. I had just been thinking the other day that we needed to use this song again, and voila, it appeared!
Higher … Unless I missed something, it’s been several years since this was has been used in church. The band did a great job.
All in all, a great week at GracePoint!
Thanks for sharing the videos! It’s awesome to actually be able to see what other churches are doing. Sounds like a great!
I meant sounds like a great DAY!
