    Sunday Setlist … April 19, 2009

Hello, and welcome to the April 19th edition of Sunday Setlist.

Today at GracePoint Church, it was week 2 of the “Rockstar” series.  Bryson preached a great message about our “entourage”.  He posed the question: are we hanging out with people who build us up, or suck us dry?  I’m sure there was some squirming going on…

As with anything titled “Rockstar”, you would expect to hear some great music.  This morning didn’t disappoint.  We saw the return of Tommy on lead guitar, who took a few months off after the birth of his second child.  It was also Carmen’s first time to sing lead vocals on a song at GP.  Good times!

    The Setlist:

    • Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode
    • Breathe by Jeremy Camp
    • Give You Glory by Jeremy Camp
    • Rain Down by Delirious
    • Rock Star by Third Day
    • Becoming Who You Are by Mainstay (offering)
    • Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue (encore)

Personal Jesus … I have to admit, it was little odd for me hearing the band rock some Depeche Mode.  It’s not their typical sound…

Breathe is an awesome song by Jeremy Camp.  I think it’s been at least a year since it saw the light of day.  We need to pull it out more often.

Give You Glory … another Camp tune.  According to Planning Center, the band rekeyed this up to G to fit a female vocalist.  Not my favorite song in the world, but other people seem to really like it.

Rain Down is an oldie but a goodie from Delirous.

Rock Star is one I’d never heard before.  Very appropriate for the series.  Gil does a great job on Third Day songs.

Becoming Who You Are is a great song from Mainstay.  We bump this up 1/2 step to avoid detuning guitars.  This was the first time I’d ever heard it with female vocals.  Carmen’s voice fits the song quite nicely.

Home Sweet Home made a great encore.  The song that made the power ballad popular!

The band: one male and two female vocalists, lead guitar, bass guitar, keys, and drums.
