    Sunday Setlist … June 14, 2009

Good evening! It’s Sunday Setlist time on the blog.

This is week two of the One Prayer series at GracePoint.  I didn’t have any volunteer responsibilities this week so I got to sit with my wife and worship alongside everyone else.

    The setlist:

    • Broadcast by Fee (walk-in & exit)
    • Deeper by Delirious
    • Give You Glory by Jeremy Camp
    • If We Are the Body by Casting Crowns
    • Better is One Day by Kutless
    • God With Us by MercyMe (offering)

Broadcast is a great song by Steve Fee.

Deeper has been a regular at GP since the beginning.   I find it difficult to sing “I wanna be” without using an English accent…

Give You Glory was sang by Amy this week.  I don’t recall ever having a female vocalist on this, but I could be wrong…  The band played this in the key of G (instead of D) to better fit a female vocalist.

If We Are the Body has also been around GP since the beginning.  In fact, it came out on the radio at the same time that we were launching GracePoint.  Great lyrics.

Better is One Day doesn’t seem to show up in the setlist very often.  We use the Kutless arrangement with a twist.  Rather than repeating the first verse, we add in a second verse: “One thing I ask and I would seek / To see your beauty / To find you in the place your glory dwells”. (I don’t know who wrote the second verse originally… We borrowed it from Petra’s version of the song.)  As a new twist this week, Gil sang lead on the verses and first two choruses.  Then Amy took over lead for the bridge and outro chorus.  FYI - This song works well acoustic too, although you miss out on all the cool toms.

God With Us has only been in the repertoire for a few months.  Great song!

The band: one female vocal, one male vocal, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, and keys.

    1. I think it is originally a Matt Redman song - Better is One Day that is…It was a great set this morning. I told Gil I love Broadcast when we don’t do it as often as we used to. It’s a fun song. As far as Deeper - I agree - you can’t sing any of their stuff without wanting to do the accent!

    2. Gil says:

This wasn’t the first time we have done Give You Glory re-keyed for a female vocalist - but I think it may have been only the second. We probably snuck it in when you were out of town one week.

You were close on the breakout of vocals on Better Is One Day, but Amy actually took the lead on the chorus all the way through. She was originally going to lead the whole song, but the verses were too low for her to sing without jumping them up an octave. That would have caused her to sing the verses higher than the chorus, though, which bothered her. So I took the verses and let her take lead on everything else. I can understand your confusion, though, because I sang the harmony on the chorus in a pretty girly way. :)

Great setlist. I never considered using “If We are the Body” with the congregation instead of as a special. Is it easy for them to sing? I love the song!

      God bless!

Its nice to get the opportunity to just sit back and enjoy worship in the congregation now and then. I’m glad you got the break.

    5. Ronnie says:

Lori, it must be fairly easy ‘cuz they sing it loud!

    6. Tami Hoban says:

it’s cool about the british accent. that’s the beauty of singing - you can sort of put on a light accent on certain words/phrases without anyone really realizing it. and hey, you can blame it on trying to get the vowels right! it’s a great excuse. ;)

my british accent temptation is a bit more blatant, unfortunately - trying to not put an “r” on the end of words that have no “r” on the end…a la Hillsong, Tim Hughes, Matt Redman…you name it.
