Friday Landscaping Project
I thought I’d share my morning project with you.
We’ve got two large oak trees in the front yard. A previous owner built some wooden planters around the trees. However as the trees have grown, the roots have pushed up the boards.
In a moment of insanity, I thought it would be a good idea to build up a wall around the trees. I wanted to go three-high on the blocks, but I decided that two was plenty after adding up the cost…
As you can see, I miscalculated the number of blocks required. I stepped it off at 25 blocks per layer per tree and bought 100 blocks. I had to go back and buy 6 more…
After unloading and carrying 106 blocks, I am convinced that the blocks are heavier than they look. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to move tonight.
Either tonight or tomorrow morning (when it’s cooler, in other words), I’ll pull out the boards and start backfilling with dirt. I’m thinking about putting some mulch on top, but I haven’t decided for sure.
Are you sweating today? Feel free to share.
It looks very nice. I wish I was there to help you.
It is amazing how many of those little blocks it takes.
