    Sunday Setlist… June 7, 2009

    June 7th, 2009

Greetings good people of the blogosphere.  I hope the service at your church was as powerful as it was at GracePoint today.

The music was great, and included an original by Carmen.  We spent time praying for the unemployed.  And Bryson delivered an incredible message about how God provides, using the story of Abraham and Isaac as a backdrop.  (This will likely be the subject of another post tomorrow…)

    The music:

    • The Time Has Come by Joel Houston
    • Look What You’ve Done by Tree 63
    • God of This City by Bluetree
    • Portrait of You by Carmen Kamps (offering)

The Time Has Come was a new one for us.  Cool song with some great guitar riffs.  We actually used the version off Jesus Culture’s “We Cry Out” CD.  Really not all that different than the Hillsong United version…

Look What You’ve Done was also new.  If you’ve never listened to it, Tree 63’s self-titled debut CD has some great worship songs on it.  Awesome song!

God of This City was the Chris Tomlin version off Passion’s “God of This City” album.  Even though Bluetree wrote the song, I just can’t get into their version…  The crowd really got into this song!  If you don’t know the background of this song, check out this post from last year with the story behind the song.

Portrait of You was written and performed by our very own Carmen Kamps.  She did an awesome job!

The band: 2 female vocals, 1 male vocal, electric guitar, bass guitar, and drums.  Piano on Portrait of You only.  (It was kind of fun to mix sound for such a stripped down band…)

    • If you follow me on Twitter, or if we’re friends on Facebook, then you’ve probably seen the “How to Tick People Off” tweets that I’ve been sending lately.  My brother took one of them, and turned it into a comic on his website, Wisdom for the DayCheck it out!  It’s okay Jason… I stole it too…

    Water

    June 2nd, 2009

My employer has a wellness program that takes a different focus each month.  If you participate in at least two monthly programs and get an annual physical, then they pay $600 towards next year’s health care premiums.  It’s a pretty good deal…

waterThis month’s progam is called “Fun in the Sun”.  We’re supposed to drink 40 oz. of water each day in June.

I’m not much of a water drinker, so I’m finding that this is rather tough…  Now if it was Diet Pepsi, I’d be covered.  I drink 40 oz.  of Diet Pepsi regularly.

But I have a plan.  I keep a 32 oz.  OSU cup in my desk.  I plan to drink 1 1/2 of those every day before I break out the Diet Pepsi.

So I’m curious what this is going to do for my overall health.  I will certainly be well hydrated.  Will my skin have less acne?  Will I lose weight because I feel more full?  Will I get caffeine headaches from drinking less Diet Pepsi?  Will I get sick from drinking that much unfiltered water?

Maybe I need to get a Camelbak hydration pack to wear around.  I’d probably get some funny looks with that thing strapped to my back all day!  Or I could go a little more discreet with the wearable 72 oz. Racebak!

So I’m dying to know… how much water do you drink each day?

    Sunday Setlist … May 31, 2009

    June 1st, 2009

Good morning, and welcome to the May 31 edition of the GracePoint Sunday Setlist.  I’ve actually got two setlists to share… one for the morning worship experiences and one for the Elevate get-together in the evening.  As always, you can find out what other churches did this Sunday on Fred McKinnon’s Sunday Setlist blog carnival.

It was a great Sunday, although quite exhausting.  I mixed sound for the Sunday morning services and played acoustic guitar for the Elevate bash.

    Sunday morning setlist:

    • Break Free by Hillsong
    • Take It All by Hillsong
    • Tell the World by Hillsong
    • Here With Me by MercyMe (communion)
    • You Are My King (Amazing Love) by Newsboys (communion, 2nd service only)
    • God With Us by MercyMe (offering)

The band: 1 male vocal, 1 female vocal, 2 electric guitars, bass guitar, keys, and drums.

    Elevate setlist:

    • Hold You High by By the Tree
    • God With Us by MercyMe
    • God of This City by Bluetree (Chris Tomlin/Passion version)

The band: 1 male vocal, 2 acoustic guitars.

Not a lot to say about the songs.  Most of these are in pretty regular rotation, and have been discussed before.  God With Us is an awesome worship song.

God of This City hasn’t been used in more than a year.  At the Elevate rally, we used the song to pray over the city of Wichita and ask God to move here.  The song has an amazing story which I blogged about in Feburary 2008.

Pastor Bryson also took this opportunity to annnounce that we have a contract on a permenant facility!  After 5+ years of being portable, we are going to purchase and renovate the old Cinemas West building.  Very exciting!  And much less expensive than a new building…
