    Sunday Setlist… November 29, 2009

    November 29th, 2009

    It’s Sunday Setlist time again!

Today marked the beginning of GracePoint’s U2-themed Christmas Series, In the Name of  Love

    • Beautiful Day by U2 (walk-in)
    • Take It All by Hillsong United
    • Mystery by Living Anthem
    • How He Loves by John Mark McMillan
    • I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For by U2
    • Message
    • Beautiful Day (offering)

Beautiful Day is always a good one to kick things off with.  Since very few people actually hear the “walk-in” song, I decided to experiment with repeating  it for the offering.  The first time that I ever went to Lifechurch, they did this with Cable Car by The Fray.  It seemed to work well.

Take It All is a tricky one rhythmically, but worth the effort IMHO…  Eron and Jeff (bass and guitar) did a great job!

Mystery is one we introduced earlier this year, but hadn’t used it in a few months.  Great song.

How He Loves  made its second appearance at GP.  Powerful song.  Amy shared an amazing word reminding us that our Heavenly Father loves us as His children.

I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For was the “title song” for this week’s message.

The band did an incredible job this week!  They made my job on the sound board easy.

    See you next Sunday!

    What I’m Thankful For

… a God of mercy, grace, and love.

    … a beautiful, loving wife.

    … two spunky kids.

    … a loving family.

    … my job.

    … music.

… a new car with a working rear defroster.

    … good friends.

    … this Internet thingy…

    Happy Thanksgiving all!

    Sunday Setlist … November 15, 2009

    Good Evening!

It was another powerful morning at GracePoint.  Bryson preached on holy discontent and discovering what you’re called by God to do.  And the music…  Words can’t do the music justice.  Christina, Jamie, and Carmen led an incredible time of worship!

    The setlist:

    • Sober by Pink (walk-in)
    • Rescue Me by Inhabited
    • Broadcast by Fee
    • You Are So Good to Me by Third Day
    • How He Loves by John Mark McMillan (Kim Walker-Smith / Jesus Culture version)
    • Drifter by Decemberadio (offering)
    • Broadcast reprise (exit)

Sober was one of two new ones this morning.  It’s too bad more people didn’t hear it, because the band rocked it!  Stylistically, it’s a little different than our normal faire but it worked great.

Rescue Me used to show up frequently, but I don’t think we’ve done it in a while.  Cool song.

Broadcast is guaranteed to get your blood pumping.

You Are So Good to Me … the band kicked the tempo up on this a bit, which I thought added a cool vibe to it.  This one’s been around a while, but doesn’t show up very often anymore.  Jamie did a great job of getting everyone singing along.

How He Loves WOW!  Carmen introduced this one to GP today.  (Yeah, we’re a little late on the bandwagon…)  It was powerful time of experiencing the Father’s love for us.  For those of you that care… we stuck with “sloppy wet kiss”, although we may go with Crowder’s alternate lyrics if other singers prefer it.

Drifter shows up fairly regularly.  I’ve got to say that I prefer Christina’s vocals to the original.  And Rod killed on the organ solo at the end!

The band: three female singers, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, and keys.

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the blogopshere!  This post is part of Fred’s Sunday Setlist Blog Carnival.

    Sunday Setlist … November 8, 2009

Wow! What an awesome day at GracePoint!

This was week 2 of the “Lovin’ the Hell Out of Wichita” series, and it marked Bryson’s return from sabbatical.  And if the guy behind the drum shield looked vaguely familiar… today also marked the return of Chris Magnuson on drums.  It was great to play with you again Chris.

The music was off-the-chart awesome this morning.  The band had fun, and you could see and hear people worshipping God with everything they had this morning.  I hadn’t played in about a month, so it was good to break out the electric mandolin again.

Second Chance is a new one this week.  Great song!  It should be making another appearance in a few weeks.

The Time Has Come is a great one to kick off the worship set with.  Carmen’s vocals were awesome, as always.

Give You Glory isn’t one of my personal favorites, but other people really seem to like it.  Thomas did a great job singing in his second week on stage.

Song of Hope is a great tune.  I love the keys on it.  Great job Rod!

Rain Down is an oldie by a goodie!  When Gil got everyone singing, I pulled out my in-ear’s so I could hear.

Under Bridges … This is the second time we’ve used this one, although it’s been a few years.  Powerful song!  When I suggested this one previously, I never expected that we would actually include the “Apollo 8” part in the middle.  It makes sense in the context of the concept album, but not really in church.  Oh well.  We’ve included it both times anyway.

The band: one female vocal, two male vocal, drums, electric guitar, electric mandolin (that’s me!), bass, and keys.

Oh yeah… feel free to leave a comment.  I’d love to hear your thoughts on this morning’s music.
