    Sunday Setlist… August 29, 2010

    August 29th, 2010

    sunday-setlist-header-v21

Woo-hoo! It’s been a couple of weeks since I actually got this out on Sunday…

Today was week 2 of the “Jack’d Up” series at GracePoint.  The message this morning was titled “No Perfect People Allowed”.  Props to Kelly  for sharing his story on video about how God had taken his jacked-up life and turned it around.  It seems to be a common theme at GracePoint…

    The setlist:

    • All Jacked Up by Gretchen Wilson (walk-in)
    • Revolution by Starfield
    • My Glorious by Delirious
    • Made to Love by TobyMac
    • Hosanna by Hillsong United
    • Sanctity by Christina Wark/Phorn (offering)
    • Revolution (exit)

All Jacked Up is… appropriately… the theme song for the series.  It’s been a while since we’ve done a song throughout an entire series.  I’m sure we’ll be sick of it by week 4…

Revolution is a great high-energy song to kick things off with.

My Glorious is one of my favorite Delirious songs.  What an awesome moment at the end when everyone was singing “My Glorious” over and over acapella!  The church bells that Rod threw in for the 2nd verse were very nice…

Made to Love is a song that we hadn’t done in a while.  On TobyMac’s Alive and Transported concert DVD, he turns the song into a pretty powerful worship moment.  It was good, but I think we probably fell short of that…  (He is TobyMac after all!)  We’ll give it another go sometime.

Hosanna… You’ve got to have Hillsong somewhere in the worship set, right?  Great song!

Sanctity was a new one for us.  Christina wrote this song and has been singing it with her band, Phorn (a.k.a. 4N), for a while.  I thought it really made a nice counter-point to All Jacked Up

The band: Christina - vocals, Gil - vocals, Jeff - electric guitar, Ronnie (me) - electric mandolin & electric guitar, Eron - bass, Rod - keys, Chris - drums.

I think that’s about it…  You can find Sunday Setlists from other churches over at TheWorshipCommunity.com.

    See you next Sunday!

    Sunday Setlist… August 22, 2010

And I thought last week’s was late…  It’s Wednesday night, and I’m just now posting this…

Sunday was the “official” grand opening of GracePoint’s new (to us) building.  We were out of town Saturday night, but made it back for the 3rd service.  A very exciting day!  We also kicked off a new message series called “Jack’d Up”.

    The setlist:

    • Come As You Are - Nirvana (walk-in & exit)
    • All Because of Jesus - Fee
    • You Are My King (Amazing Love) - Newsboys arrangement
    • He Loves Us - Jesus Culture arrangement
    • All Jacked Up - Gretchen Wilson (message intro)
    • We Are Broken - Paramore (offering)

The band: Jamie - vocals, Carmen - vocals, Mike - vocals, Bruce - electric guitar, Jeff - bass, Rod - keys, Phil - drums

As always, this post is part of the Sunday Setlist Extravaganza over at TheWorshipCommunity.com.

Hopefully next week, I’ll be back to the full-length, on-time post!

    Sunday Setlist… August 15, 2010

    August 16th, 2010

    sunday-setlist-header-v21

Greetings, and welcome to a slightly belated GracePoint Sunday Setlist post!  It just didn’t happen yesterday…

Sunday was our second week in the newly renovated building, and my first week playing in it.  Definitely a completely different feel than playing at Maize South.  Much more intimate!  Next week will mark our official grand opening.  We’re expecting quite a crowd and will be adding a 3rd service.

    The setlist:

    • Cross the Line by Superchick (walk-in and exit)
    • Broadcast by Fee
    • See His Love by Kim Walker-Smith/Jesus Culture
    • Give You Glory by Jeremy Camp
    • My Hope is You by Third Day
    • If Today Was Your Last Day by Nickelback (offering)

Cross the Line is a fun song to start the service off.  It’s rowdy!  Just like the people at GracePoint.  I believe this was only the second time for the tune.

Broadcast is one we’ve been doing for a few years.  It was a nice fit for the Servolution message series.

See His Love has also been around for a little while.  Awesome worship song.

Give You Glory… as I’ve said before, not one of my personal favorites.  But other people seem to really like it…

My Hope is You is an older song, but it was our first time to sing it at GracePoint.  It’s a great song, but I’m not sure how it went over.  Let me know what you thought about it!

If Today Was Your Last Day is one we’ve been doing for a year, or two.  Not a huge Nickelback fan, but the song has a great message and Christina does a great job singing it.

The band:  Christina - vocals, Thomas - vocals, Gil - bass and vocals, Tommy - electric guitar, Ronnie (me!) - electric guitar and electric mandolin, Rod - keys, Chris - shiny gold drums

See you next week for the Grand Opening!

    Sunday Setlist… August 8, 2010

“Praise the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised.” - 1 Kings 8:56 (part of Solomon’s dedication of the temple)

entering-the-buildingJust as God gave rest to the people of Israel, the people of GracePoint gained a little rest today too.  After 6 1/2 years of portable church, we held our first services  in our first permenant home in the old Cinemas West building at Central & Tyler!  It was a very exciting day.  Both services were packed!  I can’t imagine what the “official grand opening” will be like on August 22!

The buzz of energy in the air was incredible.

And it was awesome to not have to rush around and pack everything up afterwards…

Carmen and Gil did a phenomenal job of leading worship.  And the music was awesome!

    • We Weren’t Born to Follow by Bon Jovi (walk-in and exit)
    • Break Free by Hillsong United
    • We Shine by Fee
    • Hold You High by By the Tree
    • Revelation Song, Jesus Culture version
    • Heaven is Here by Jesus Culture (offering)

    gp-sme-8-8-2010_1

We Weren’t Born to Follow was a new one for us.  It was a fun song to kick things off.

Break Free … Carmen did an awesome job of kicking off the worship set with this song.  Today was probably the most engaging that I’ve ever seen her.

We Shine is a great song by Fee that we’ve been using for several years.  I always love it when Gil yells at “YEA!” at the end.

Hold You High is another one that has been around for a few years.  Interestingly, we’ve frequently used this song to kick off the worship with a lot of energy; but today, we used it to start slowing things down.

Revelation Song … All I can say is WOW!  Carmen shared a brief testimony before the song began about a recent experience of singing this song on a retreat.  Very powerful!  It was great to hear everyone singing along with her.

Heaven is Here is a song that I’m still trying to figure out.  I love the music.  I love the melody.  I love to hear Carmen sing it.  If it wasn’t for the lyrics in the chorus, it would be one of my favorite songs…  Someday it’ll all make sense…

The band: Carmen - vocals, Gil - vocals, Bruce - electric guitar, Rod - keys, Jeff - bass, Deric - drums

A great morning!  You should be able to download the worship podcast off of itunes later this week.

    Sunday Setlist… August 1, 2010

    August 1st, 2010

It’s August 1st which means it was Servolution Sunday at GracePoint Church.  Last week, we ended our lease at Maize South High School.  Next week, we will have our first service in the new building.  So this week, we had a short 30 minute worship service outside the new building and then hit the community as a church to show God’s love thru service.  Teams of people went out to mow lawns, wash windows, clean bathrooms at local businesses, pick up trash along the streets, etc…

My family signed up to hand out bags of quarters and dryer sheets to people at the laundrymat.  There wasn’t anyone at our “assigned” laundrymat, so we called an audible and went to another one in the neighborhood.  As you can imagine, people were quite surpised to get quarters and dryer sheets with no strings attached.  The kids wanted to keep serving, so we joined some other families picking up trash along Central.

    We had a great time!

    Oh yeah… the Setlist…

    • Your Grace is Enough by Chris Tomlin
    • If We Are the Body by Casting Crowns
    • You Never Let Go by Matt Redman
    • Give It All Away by Aaron Shust (offering)

For the worship set, we tried to pick a few songs that everyone would know since there weren’t any lyrics.  If We Are the Body and Give It All Away were especially appropriate for a morning of community service.

The band (if you can two people a band…): Gil - vocals, Ronnie (me) - acoustic guitar

Here are a couple of pictures from this morning.  I took the first one; Perry Johnson took the second.
